Jeff Foxworthy would have a field day with Coopersville, Michigan . . . especially this morning!
You've heard the stories young boys tell about how they got a bruise, a cut or any other wound. Why is it with boys, it has to be some spectacular thing that happened to them--even big boys! At Coopersville's East Elementary, 4th grader Drake is going to have a story to tell for a real long time on how he got a cut on his head! He got kicked in the head by a 6 point buck IN HIS 4TH GRADE CLASSROOM. He is completely fine, thank goodness, but this kid is going to have a story to tell until he is old. The best part is he has the proof to tell what happened. Toward the end of school yesterday, the deer crashed through a window as a 6 point buck but he left the classroom as a 3 point buck. Can you imagine how awesome it must be to this 10 year old who will have his memento for life. This is going to be a story he will be telling his grand children someday.
The kids in the classroom are all safe as the deer left almost as quickly as he came. There is plenty of glass to clean up, but the kids are going to have something to talk about for a long time. Even their teacher will have something to remember because it was her first year of teaching at Coopersville.
Ok, I have to tell you that Coopersville isn't THAT hick! This is a true story but we really do have all the regular ammenities. Things have grown so much since I was a kid. When I went to high school as a Bronco, we didn't have an Aribies, McDoanlds or Taco Bell and now we have them all plus a Burger King, Little Ceasers and several coffee cafe's. This little town has grown by leaps and bounds in the last twenty years. But it still has small town values and is an awesome community to grow up in! And . . . . it's a great place to hunt also . . .just don't do it in a fourth grade classroom!!!!

Hi Tami, I attended school in a small town. First Grade - Twelfth Grade was located in the same building. We never had anything as exciting as a deer crashing through the window.
Tami...
Wonder when the mystery meat will show up on the lunch menu? lol
OMG!!! That must have been the COOLEST THING as a kid to have happen! My kids would have LOVED that, and it could easily happen because #1, our school mascot is The Buckhorns! and #2, our schools are close to game lands and state forest - not too far away!
Tami..the kids got a visit from Bucky the near sighted deer?, Glad to hear everyone is alright. My wife Flew out of Grand Rapids last night trying to beat the storm, she showed me some pictures this morning of her families place near Fremont..you guys have some snow there!
Shirley- When I was in elementary school I went to Conklin Elementary. We had about 8 roooms but our class was so small that we were in with the grade below us. We never had anything so exciting either!
Richard- That is just bad . . .lol But in this town more than half the kids probably already eat venison and wouldn't have a problem with it!
Karen- I agree as a kids that would be the coolest think in the world to happen! He was really cute on the news!
Steve - We sure do. Last night the freezing rain was exciting. It is trying to decide what to do out right now . .rain . . or snow?
Tami, now I've heard everything! Right through the window? Maybe running from a hunter? You ought to have this published in your local newspaper! Rudolph on the Rampage! How fun and thank heavens he wasn't hurt badly...wierd. Holiday Hugs, Deb
Deb- It was on the news this morning. The little guy was so dang cute!!!
That poor deer! Can you imagine the fright - no idea that he was jumping through glass. What a story for the kids.
Tami, By the time that young boy gets to be around thirty the story will have grown by leaps (no pun intended) and bounds: there will have been 2 deer, and all the boys joined in to wrestle it to the ground etc...LOL
Hey Tami, good story. I am glad no one got hurt!
April - He must have been a little out of his mind to jump through a window.
Barb - You make me laugh and it is oh so true. I'm sure it has already grown to at least a 10 point . .lol
Tanya - I'm glad no one got hurt to because it could have been so much worse
Great story. Im a city gal and didn't see a deer until I was grown up. In fact I remember driving out to country to see moo cows when I was about 8. Peace~~~~Kelly
Kelly - That just cracks me up! I grew up shooing the dang cows out of the garden!
This story is so darned cute. And yes, little boys always seem to be in the mix of it all.
My "big boy" hit a deer Friday night. Thankfully he was alright, but not the poor deer :-(
Hi Kris - The story was even cuter on the news! My 17 year old daughter hit a deer with our Chevy Duramax 2 weeks ago. I call it the tank and the tank won--the deer was obliterated. But the deer also won because there was 500 damage to the truck!
What a story! The only excitement we had in school was the bomb scares, and we always knew those were fake!
Great story. Glad no one was hurt. We had a buck head through the glass of a car showroom here a few years back. As for bomb scares, I had actual pipe bombs go off in my high school during the school day but that was a different "gentler" time in history (Ha Ha the "70s were anything but gentle) Have a great day.
Tami,
Oh my gosh, what a great localism story. I bet everyone was surprised.
Ann
Tami - What a unique story! Isn't that funny? He'll remember that for a looong time... :)
Ann - Bomb scares . . wholly cow. Well now that I think of it my daughter has come home a couple of times in the past couple years and said it happened at our school to.
Paddy - Ok I must be REALLY OLD because I never had a bomb scare at Coopersville when I went. But then heck we had a smoking court . . lol
Ann - Yeah I thought Localism would love that one but I wonder if everyone thinks we are total hick country!!
Debi - I thought is was pretty darn intersting . . lol
Tami, What excitment that had to have caused in the classroom. So, glad the little boy is okay. So what happened to the other three points
